After receiving Ph.D. degrees in electronics from Tohoku University, I have joined the Semiconductor Research Institute (SRI) in 1978, a non-profit foundation bridging the divide between the fundamental research work in universities and R&D in industry.
SRI is directed by Prof. J. Nishizawa (the former President of Tohoku University), the creator of various important inventions such as pin diode (filed in 1950), ion implantation method (1950), semiconductor laser (1957) and optical fiber (1964).
“The semiconductor laser” was filed two years earlier than the proposal of N. G. Basov who won the Novel prize for the laser, and seven months earlier than the day of invention by Gordon Gould, who is known as the actual inventor of the laser in the U.S.A.
Therefore, Prof. Nishizawa received Japan Academy Prize in 1974, the International Organization of Crystal Growth (IOCG) Laudise Prize in 1989, the Order of Cultural Merits (Bunka-Kunsho) conferred from Japanese Emperor in 1989. In 2002 Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal” was founded in IEEE, U.S.A.
As a senior researcher of SRI, I have managed research groups of semiconductor integrated circuits, semiconductor high frequency devices, crystal growth and power devices under tutelage of Prof. J. Nishizawa.
I have served as a group leader in Nishizawa’s Perfect Crystal Project (1981-86) and a technical manager in Nishizawa’s Terahertz Project (1991-93) within the Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology (ERATO) program of Research Development Corporation of Japan (JRDC) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture, Japan.
Under the mentorship of Prof. J. Nishizawa, I was guided to serve as “the fighting researcher”, being conducted training of prosecution of IP rights so that the representation on financial statements can reflect the incomes from the IP rights through the research work in SRI.
With the naïve and honest doctrine of research, mentor Prof. J. Nishizawa has provided me the direction of original research which spans wide research fields not restricted in the narrow research field of semiconductor electronics.
My patent-attorney’s life at present is on the extended line of the research works of 20 years in SRI.
Then, as the chief executive officer in our patent law firm, I will direct and manage our patent law firm so that we can offer effective IP services to our clients, based upon the scheme of “the service-marketing triangle” illustrated in Fig. 1 thereby promoting the funder Mori’s will..
For effectively performing the interactive marketing between our contact persons and our client, we will adopt the scheme of Value Engineering (VE) approach.
By the VE approatach, “the value of our service” is defined as the ratio of “the quality of our service” to “the cost required for the service”.
In the VE approach, “the service quality” is a concept of the unexpected service advantage established over the targeted result to which our client has required.
Therefore, our IP technology will focus to the issues of how to create additional service values and how much we can offer the additional service values to our client. Then, we will reinforce our internal education as the internal marketing in the service-marketing triangle so that we can create additional service values in the interactive marketing.

In 2017, I came to the milestone of fifty years since the establishment of patent office, 54 years as registered patent attorney.
On this occasion, I decided to support ,as a chairman, the succeeding president Sohbe Suzuki.
